ALTADENA — Authorities Sunday identified a 26-year-old man found slain on a horse trail near Canon Boulevard in Altadena.
Marcus Anthony Nieto was pronounced dead at the scene after he was discovered unresponsive by a passerby early Saturday, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said. He had a listed address in West Covina, however he was believed to have been staying most recently in Azusa.
It initially appeared Nieto, whose body was found just after 8:10 a.m. on a horse trail near the 3800 block of Canon Boulevard, had been shot in the head, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said.
But an autopsy was yet to be carried to determine Nieto’s officials cause of death, MacWillie said. The death was reported to the coroner’s office as an apparent homicide.
No further information was released.
