AP: Fullerton police officer shot during traffic stop

FULLERTON — A Fullerton police office has been shot multiple times after he pulled over a car on a routine traffic stop.
The Orange County Register reports that the shooting occurred shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday in Fullerton when the officer approached the driver’s side window.
The officer, who is a seven-year veteran of the department, returned fire, but the vehicle fled the scene and was later found abandoned.
The officer was taken to a local hospital. He is expected to survive.
It is unknown whether either of the two people in the car was wounded.
