Pasadena man killed in crash in front of his Hill Avenue home

PASADENA — A man died in a crash late Saturday as he was pulling out of the driveway of his Hill Avenue home, authorities said.
Jose Daniel Moreno, 37, died at a hospital shortly after the crash, which took place about 8 p.m. in the 600 block of N. Hill Avenue, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said.
“Officers arrived and located two heavily damaged vehicles in the roadway,” Pasadena police Lt. Ed Calatayud said. “Each contained only one occupant, the driver.”
“Initially, information suggests one of the vehicles was puling out of a driveway, and the other was southbound on Hill when the collision occurred,” Calatayud said.
Investigators determined Moreno was the driver of the vehicle that was exiting the driveway, MacWillie said.
He had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters, Pasadena Fire Department officials added.
The other driver, a 48-year-old Pasadena man, was treated for apparently minor injuries, Calatayud said.
Officers from the Pasadena Police Department’s traffic section are handling the investigation.
Hill Avenue was shut down between Las Lunas and Villa streets for nearly three hours following the crash.
