UPDATED: Body found in motel room near Pasadena

Homicide detectives are looking into the death of a man whose body was discovered Friday in a Colorado Boulevard motel room in an unincorporated county area just east of Pasadena.

A Coroner’s official said initial reports indicated there was blunt force trauma to the body. However, the autopsy is still pending.

The body was discovered about 11:25 a.m. by an employee of the El Rancho Motel, 3853 E. Colorado Blvd., sheriff’s Lt. Ignacio Somoano said.

Detectives from the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau were called in to take over the investigation,

Deputy Kim Manatt said motel staff were alerted when the occupant of the room failed to check out in a timely manner.

The name of the man, initially described by coroner’s officials as a white man in his early-20s, was not released pending confirmation that his family had been notified..

There were no further details released.
