PASADENA — A burglar tried unsuccessfully to pry open an ATM machine along Fair Oaks Avenue early Sunday, police said.
The attempted theft was discovered about 4 a.m. in the 00 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue by the owner of a nearby business, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson said.
The proprietor was leaving his business when he noticed a “large tarp hanging outside one of the businesses that had an ATM outside,” Clawson said. He then noticed there was smoke emanating from beneath the tarp.
A crowbar was found jammed into the ATM machine, as if someone had tried to pry it open, but it remained intact, the lieutenant said.
No description of the would-be burglar was available.
