Man pistol-whipped, robbed and carjacked in Pasadena

PASADENA — Police Friday continued seeking a man who pistol-whipped, robbed and carjacked another man on Penn Street earlier this week, officials said.
The crime took place about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Penn Street, though it was not reported to police until Thursday, Pasadena police Lt. Vasken Gourdikian said.
The victim, a 46-year-old Pasadena man, went to a home to meet with suspect the lieutenant said. The purpose of the visit was not clear.
“During their meeting, a fight ensues between the two for unknown reasons,” Gourdikian said. “During the fight, the suspect in this case produces a handgun and strikes the victim across the head while demanding his wallet.”
The pistol-whipped man was knocked unconscious briefly, Gourdikian said. When the man awoke, his car was gone, along with other personal items including his wallet.
The victim did not know his attacker’s name, the lieutenant said, but he was believed to live in the San Fernando Valley. Police described him as a Latino man between 20 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He had tattoos on both arms.
The stolen car, which remained missing Friday, is a black, 4-door 2001 BMW 325, Gourdikian said.
