Azusa woman accused of stabbing boyfriend at motel

AZUSA — An Azusa woman was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of stabbing and seriously injuring her boyfriend during an argument at a motel, police said.
Officers arrested Julie Ann Helm, 46, of Azusa for assault with a deadly weapon following the stabbing, which took place about 8:10 a.m. Tuesday at the Arrow Inn Motel, 469 E. Arrow Highway, according to Azusa police and Los Angeles County booking records.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 call to discover a 43-year-old Azusa man suffering from “multiple stab wounds to his upper body,” Azusa police Acting Sgt. Andy Rodriguez said in a written statement.
“The wounds were serious, but he is expected to survive,” Rodriguez said.
Helm, who was still at the scene when officers arrived, was arrested without a struggle, he said.
According to booking records, she was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail pending a scheduled arraignment Thursday in West Covina Superior Court.
