Man accused of Pasadena cell phone robbery

PASADENA — Police arrested a transient on suspicion of robbing another transient of his cell phone early Saturday using what was ultimately determined to be a BB gun, officials said.
Ramonio Shamrock, 39, was booked on suspicion of robbery following the 6:15 a.m. incident near the casting ponds along the 300 block of South Arroyo Boulevard, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson said.
The victim was using a power outlet outside a bathroom facility to charge his cell phone when Shamrock took it, the lieutenant said.
“The victim confronts him about stealing the phone,” Clawson said. “He pulls out a handgun and threatens to kill the victim.”
Shamrock then fled into the Arroyo Seco, where police officers found him inside a tent. Police recovered what was ultimately found to be a BB gun.
According to county booking records, Shamrock was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.
