EL MONTE — An elderly woman was struck and seriously injured by a car along Peck Road early Wednesday, authorities said.
The incident was reported about 7:35 a.m. at Peck Road and Hallwood Drive, El Monte police Officer Nicholas Kearney said.
The woman, initially describedas being in her late 80s or early 90s, was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries but appeared to be in stable condition, police and Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said.
Police said the driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
No further details were available Wednesday. The investigation was being carried out by officers from the El Monte Police Department.
