Transient accused of raping woman inside Pasadena home

PASADENA — Police jailed a 44-year-old transient early Wednesday on suspicion of raping a woman in her home last week, authorities said.
Trent Lee Darling was arrested on suspicion of rape when he returned to the home of the victim about 1 a.m., according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.
The sexual assault took place late Friday, when Darling is accused of entering the woman’s bedroom and sexually assaulting her, Pasadena police Lt. Tom Delgado said.
The woman said she did not know Darling, but she had recently seen him lurking around and believed he had been stalking her, he said.
When the man returned to the home wishing to speak with the victim in the early-morning hours Wednesday, a female friend spoke with him and kept him distracted until officers arrived, the lieutenant said. He was taken into custody without a struggle.
According to booking records, Darling was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.
