Whittier man fatally struck by car identified

WHITTIER — Coroner’s officials Saturday identified a 59-year-old Whittier man who was fatally struck by a car while crossing Washington Boulevard.
Robert Gonzales Jr. died at the scene of Thursday’s 8:43 p.m. collision in the 12200 block of Washington Boulevard, between Sorenson Avenue and Santa Fe Springs Road, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner officials said.
An autopsy determined he died from multiple traumatic injuries and ruled the death an accident, coroner’s officials added.
The driver failed to see the man before striking him, Whittier police Lt. Jay Tatman said.
No citations or arrested were initially made, police said. The investigation was ongoing.
