Sheriff’s patrol car involved in crash in West Covina

WEST COVINA — A sheriff’s deputy was involved in a car crash with a civilian vehicle late Tuesday, resulting in significant damage but no major injuries, officials said.
The collision, which involved a deputy from the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Walnut-Diamond Bar Station, took place about 8 p.m. at La Puente Road and Sentous Avenue, sheriff’s Sgt. David Wessol said.
After colliding with the civilian car, the patrol car veered into a block wall, the sergeant said.
The deputy involved in the collision was examined at the scene and did not go the hospital, Wessol said. The woman at the wheel of the civilian vehicle was taken to a hospital for apparently minor injuries.
The deputy did not have emergency lights and sirens activated at the time of the crash, officials said.
The circumstances and cause of the crash were being investigated by officers from the Baldwin Park office of the California Highway Patrol.
