Driver killed in South Whittier solo-car crash

SOUTH WHITTIER – A driver died at the scene of a solo-car crash Saturday in which a car slammed into a light pole, officials said.
The crash was reported just after 11:45 a.m. at Meyer and Leffingwell roads in unincorporated South Whittier, California Highway Patrol Officer Tatiana Sauquillo said.
It involved a BMW which ended up “wrapped around” the pole, according to CHP logs.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene, Sauquillo said.
No description of the driver was available. There were no passengers in the BMW.
The crash was being investigated by officers from the Santa Fe Springs office of the CHP.
