Teens robbed in Pasadena, two suspects arrested

PASADENA — A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy robbed two other teens at knifepoint Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Jose Ayon, 19, of Pasadena and his alleged teenage accomplice were booked on suspicion of robbery following the incident, which took place about 6:40 p.m. in the 500 block of North Marengo Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Tom Delgado said.
A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were walking when they were approached by the two suspects, who brandished a knife and demanded their belongings, the lieutenant said. The alleged victims handed over a cell phone, a book back and $12 in cash.
The two suspect fled, but were apprehended by officers nearby with help from a witness who pointed police toward them, Delgado said. Both were arrested after being identified by the victims as their robbers.
According to county booking records, Ayon was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail Thursday pending his initial court appearance.
