Intoxicated, ‘partially clothed’ burglary suspect arrested outside students’ home in Pasadena

PASADENA — Police jailed an intoxicated and “partially clothed” man following a failed break-in at the home of students near in Pasadena, officials said.
David Albert Gutierrez, 25, of West Covina was arrested on suspicion of burglary following the unusual incident, which took place shortly before 6 a.m. at the home of students in the 1300 block of E. Cordova Street, between Cal Tech and Pasadena City College, according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records. It was unclear what school the students attend.
Officers responded to the home after someone reported seeing a man “prowling around” in the backyard, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson said.
“They found the suspect in the backyard and took him into custody without incident,” Clawson said. “He was intoxicated and partially clothed.” A further description of the suspect’s state of dress was not available.
Officers then discovered the man had allegedly tried unsuccessfully to force his way through a window of the home, Clawson said. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
According to county booking records, Gutierrez was being held in lieu of $50,000 pending his initial court appearance.
