Death of man struck by big rig in Pico Rivera ruled suicide

PICO RIVERA — Authorities have determined that the death of a man who was struck by a big rig along Slauson Avenue last week was a suicide.
A 34-year-old Pico Rivera man died following the incident, which took place just before 10:30 a.m. Friday on Slauson Avenue, just east of Bequette Street, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s and coroner officials.
After being struck and run over by a big rig, rescuers rushed the man to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he succumbed to his injuries at 11:17 a.m., coroner Chief of Operations Craig Harvey said.
The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Meyer said at the time.
An autopsy was completed Monday, and the death was ruled a suicide, Harvey said. Investigators determined the man intentionally ran in front of the big rig.
