Active shooter training planned Friday at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena

PASADENA >> Sheriff’s, police, fire and hospital officials are planning to take part in an active shooter training drill Friday at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, authorities said.
The training will take place beginning at 10 a.m. at the hospital, 100 W. California Blvd., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida said in a written statement.
“The event will involve nurses, doctors and hospital administrators from Huntington Memorial Hospital,” she said.
“This training will simulate a shooting at the hospital where police and fire personnel will respond and take simulated action,” Nishida added. “The training will incorporate simulated gunfire and explosions. There will also be simulated injuries and role players at the hospital.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials, Pasadena police officials, Pasadena fire officials and Huntington Hospital staff will take part in the training.
The drill, which is closed to the public, will not interfere with hospital functions, she added.
