Woman accused of hurling rock through window at Pasadena Police Department; sergeant suffers cut to face

PASADENA — A Pasadena police sergeant arrested a woman Thursday after she threw a rock through a window at a police station, shattering a window and cutting the sergeant’s face, police said.
Jennifer Vielia, 45, of Pasadena was booked on suspicion of assault on a peace officer, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson said.
The sergeant, a 30-year veteran of the police department, was doing paperwork when he heard the sound of a rock hitting a Garfield Avenue-facing window of the police station at 207 N. Garfield Avenue, Clawson said.
He approached the window to see what was happening just in time to see a woman, later identified as Vielia, hurling a second rock toward the window, the lieutenant said. The rock went through the window, and the sergeant suffered a minor cut to his face from shattered glass.
He rushed outside and arrested the woman, Clawson said.
She refused to talk with investigators, he added, and a motive in the crime was not clear.
