SOUTH EL MONTE >> A SuperLotto Plus ticket sold at a South El Monte liquor store won the jackpot in Saturday night’s drawing, earning $26 million for a newly-wealthy patron, according to the California Lottery.
The ticket matched all six numbers in the drawing: 6, 16, 22, 27, 32 and Mega Number 3, California Lottery officials said in a written statement. It was sold at Sam’s Liquor, 9660 Garvey Ave.
The winner was yet to come forward Sunday, store manager Bobby Lee said. The business is owned by his parents.
Lottery officials called the store Saturday night to inform the family they had sold a jackpot ticket, Lee said.
A represented visited the store Sunday morning to leave decorations and celebrate the win, he added.
As the retailer of the ticket, the store is entitled to one-half of one-percent of the $26 million jackpot, or $130,000.
Lee said his family had not determined what to do with their share of the win.
“We’re still too excited. We don’t know yet,” he said.
Lee said the ticket was the biggest winner the store had ever sold.
In addition the jackpot ticket, two other tickets matching five of the six numbers in Saturday’s drawing were sold in Bakersfield and Victorville, winning $23,172 each. Twelve other tickets sold statewide matched four numbers, winning $1,931 each.
