Pasadena police talk suicidal man down from Colorado Street Bridge

PASADENA >> Two police officers talked a suicidal man down from the edge of the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena Friday, officials said.
Los Angeles Police contacted their counterparts in Pasadena shortly after 8:30 a.m. after receiving information that a 41-year-old Los Angeles man was on his way to Pasadena to jump off a bridge, Pasadena police Lt. Tracey Ibarra said.
Pasadena Police Department Homeless Outreach and Psychiatric Evaluation Team Officer Domino Scott-Jackson and patrol Officer Brian Petrella spotted a man matching the description given by LAPD about 10 a.m. on the Colorado Street bridge, Ibarra said.
As the officers approached the man, he ran from them and climbed over the railing along the side of the bridge, the lieutenant said.
After talking with the man for about 40 minutes, the officers persuaded him to climb back over the railing to safety, Ibarra said. He was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
