UPDATED: Toddler found wandering along in middle of Pasadena street overnight; father arrested but ultimately released without charges

UPDATE:

PASADENA >> A man arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after his 2-year-old daughter was found wandering alone on a Pasadena street has been released from custody without charges, records show.
Lucas Scott Mark was released from jail three days after his Oct. 18 arrest, according to Los Angeles County booking records. No charges were filed against Mark, who was initially accused of felony child endangerment.
Police arrested the father after a good Samaritan reported finding a 2-year-old girl walking alone in the middle of the street shortly before midnight at Los Robles Avenue and Maple Street, Pasadena police Lt. John Luna said at the time.
A short time after police picked up the girl, they received reports from the same area that a man was yelling and looking for his child, Luna said. The child was unharmed.
Officers arrested Mark, who was held in lieu of $100,000 bail until he was ultimately released without charges Oct. 21, records show.
A woman who identified herself as Mark’s wife said her husband was an attentive father.
The incident occurred when their daughter, who has special needs, wandered away from the home through faulty screen door in a home the family had recently moved into. She added that the family’s home is about four houses away from where the girl was found.

ORIGINAL STORY:

PASADENA >> Police arrested a man Friday night after his 2-year-old daughter was found wandering along in the middle of a Pasadena street Friday night, officials said.
Lucas Scott Mark, 33, of Pasadena remained jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail Saturday after being booking on suspicion of felony child endangerment, according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.
A good Samaritan called police to report finding the young girl wandering alone about 11:50 p.m., Pasadena police Lt. John Luna said.
“A motorist found a toddler in the middle of the roadway at Los Robles (Avenue) and Maple (Street),” Luna said.
Police arrived and picked up the child, who was unharmed, the lieutenant said. The child was, “very, very lucky,” not to have been struck by a car while wandering along in the dark street, he added.
About five minutes later, police received a report of a man in the area yelling and looking for his child.
Officers noted “unsafe and unfit” conditions at the man’s home and arrested Mark, Luna said. Police also summoned the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.

  1. Lucas is my husband and he was released, felony charges dropped! As for the policeman, it’s crazy how he lied and had the nerve to tell me my daughter was found way further then Maple and Los Robles! My house is 4 houses from the corner of Los Robles and Maple! If your going to tell a story get your fact straight before you write about my child! Also, you need to ask me before you even think about saying anything about my children Brian Day!

There is no excuse for what happened that night, a horrible accident that was caused by a faulty screen door in a rental my family just moved into!

Cop also lied if he told you my house was unsafe or unfit. A mess of toys in the toy room? Rambling through our house and finding a knife? And charging a person with a crime that calls for “willingness?” My husband willfully let our little girl out? A huge lawsuit against the Pasadena Police Department is in the works!

My little girl is special needs and when she is outside she just runs, can get far very quickly. If your child got out through an exit by accident at midnight you wouldn’t even know because most people would be asleep! My husband takes awesome care of his daughter, staying up with her till the early morning hours because she has trouble sleeping.

I still am very upset about the situation. Again just get your facts straight before you write about my family!
