Woman grabbed from behind in Baldwin Park

BALDWIN PARK >> Police are unsure of a man’s intentions when he grabbed a woman from behind and covered her mouth with his hand before fleeing late Wednesday, officials said.
The incident took place about 9 p.m. in the 14600 block of Cavette Place, Baldwin Park police Sgt. Josh Hendricks said.
A woman in her 30s was unloading items from her car when she was grabbed from behind, the sergeant said.
Her attacker placed one hand over her mouth and the other around her chest, he said.
The woman screamed and managed to break free of the man, and he ran off, Hendricks said.
The sergeant said the ultimate intentions of the man were not clear. He may have been trying to rob the woman, or the incident may have been an abandoned attempt at a sexual assault.
Police described the attacker as a Latino man with a light complexion, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and of medium build.
