LA VERNE >> Police arrested a volunteer aide at a La Verne middle school Wednesday on suspicion of molesting a 13-year-old girl, authorities said.
Police jailed Anthony Michael Valdez, 21, of Ontario on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child under 14 years old, La Verne police officials said in a written statement.
He served as a volunteer aide at Ramona Middle School, police said.
“The victim, who is now 14 years old, said the unlawful sex began when she was 13 years old and the suspect was 20, according to the police statement.
Investigators arrested Valdez about 4 p.m., according to Los Angeles County booking records.
“The investigation is ongoing,” according to the statement. “It is unknown at this time if there are any additional victims.”
Valdez was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the La Verne Police Department’s jail pending his initial court appearance, according to booking records.
No further information was available late Thursday.
