UPDATE: Mentally disabled man who went missing in El Monte found safe in Fontana with help from social media

EL MONTE >> A mentally disabled man who went missing Friday morning was found safe late Friday afternoon with the help of social media, officials said.
Police asked for the public’s help Friday in finding 19-year-old Jason Guillen, who has the mental capacity of a 3-year-old child, El Monte police officials said in a written statement. He disappeared about 10:15 from Golden Ox Burgers, 10903 Valley Mall, police said.
Police circulated a photo of the missing man as they searched for him through the afternoon.
Police in Fontana notified their counterparts in El Monte about 7 p.m. that Guillen had turned up safe and sound, El Monte police Lt. Ben Lowry said.
Guillen had boarded a bus with a final destination in Fontana, Lowry said. When he failed to exit the bus at the end of the line, local police were summoned.
Social media posts regarding the missing man played a key role in his safe recovery, Lowry added.
A San Bernardino police official who had seen a social media post describing the missing man overheard Fontana police radio traffic discussing the man on the bus, Lowry said.
The San Bernardino officer notified Fontana police that the man in question had been reported missing from El Monte, he said.
