Man flags down driver, then stabs him at West Whittier gas station

WEST WHITTIER >> A man suffered a slash to his wrist in a seemingly unprovoked attack at a gas station in an unincorporated county area just west of Whittier late Friday, officials said.
The victim, a man in his early-20s, told deputies he was at a gas station at Washington Boulevard and Norwalk Avenue about 11 p.m. when a man he did not know flagged him down, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Vasquez said.
When the victim rolled down the window of his car, the suspect started stabbing at him with a 6- to 7-inch long knife, the sergeant said.
The victim suffered a wound to his left wrist, Vasquez said. He drove himself to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials described the attacker as a black man, 30 to 35 years old, with braces on his teeth, about 5 feet 7 inches tall an 180 pounds.
The investigation was being handled by deputies from the sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station.
