Wanted sex offender captured in Pasadena

PASADENA >> Police in Pasadena found and arrested a “high-risk” sex offender Wednesday sought for cutting off his court-ordered GPS monitor, officials said.
Jose Armando Cureno, 37, was arrested about 12:25 a.m. at Allen Avenue and Villa Street on a parole violation warrant, according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.
Police were notified Monday by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation that Cureno had removed his GPS tracker and was last known to have been in Pasadena, Pasadena police Lt. John Luna said.
Two officers on patrol early Wednesday spotted Cureno and took him into custody.
He was being held without bail pending his initial court appearance, records show.
According to California’s database of sex offenders, Cureno has a conviction for sexual battery and has been in violation of his registration requirements since late July.
