El Monte man found fatally stabbed on sidewalk


EL MONTE >> A man was found stabbed to death on an El Monte sidewalk early Saturday, authorities said.
Jonathan Flores, 30, of El monte died at the scene of the stabbing, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Lt. David Smith said.
A passer-by first discovered Flores about 2:20 a.m., suffering from stab wounds and lying on a sidewalk in the 12200 block of Magnolia Avenue, just east of Maxson Road, according to Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The witness notified police of a “person down.”
“When officers arrived, they saw the victim lying on the sidewalk with what appeared to be stab wounds to his upper torso,” Saldana said om a written statement.
The slaying remained a mystery as the investigation continued Saturday afternoon.
“There is no suspect information and the motive is unknown,” Saldana said.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is assisting El Monte police with the investigation.
