Man and woman stabbed following parking dispute in Pasadena

PASADENA >> A man stabbed and seriously wounded a woman and her boyfriend during what began as an argument over parking in a carport late Saturday.
Both victims, a Pasadena woman in her 30s and a Los Angeles man in his 30s, were hospitalized in “critical but stable” condition following the alleged attack, which took place about 8:10 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. John Mercado said.
The suspect, a man in his 50s, was a neighbor of the woman, the lieutenant said. They had been involved in an ongoing dispute when they encountered one another in the parking lot of their apartment complex and became involved in an argument over parking.
“The argument escalated into a physical fight between them,” Mercado said. “(The woman’s boyfriend) saw the fight and involved himself in defense of the (female) victim.”
“The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed both of them,” he said. “The (male) victim managed to disarm the suspect and retain the knife. Once the suspect was disarmed, he fled in his vehicle.”
Police collected the folding pocket knife as evidence, Mercado said.
The suspect’s identity was not available as police continued seeking him Sunday.
