Suspect arrested following East Pasadena robbery

EAST PASADENA >> Deputies arrested a man late Wednesday minutes after he robbed a woman in an unincorporated county area just east of Pasadena, authorities said.
A woman in her 20s was walking at Rosemead Boulevard and Huntington Drive when the suspect approached her and grabbed her purse, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Abi Ben-Sahile said.
“A struggle ensued, where she was able to prevent her purse from being stolen,” the sergeant said.
But the robber managed to snatch the woman’s cell phone from her hand before fleeing, he said.
Responding deputies spotted the suspect just to the north at Rosemead and California boulevards, Ben-Sahile said. He was taken into custody without a struggle.
The suspect’s name was not available pending booking. He was initially described as a transient in his 30s.
Deputies recovered the stolen from the suspect and returned it to the victim, he said.
