Man fatally shot in El Monte identified

EL MONTE >> Coroner’s officials Thursday released the identity of a 40-year-old man found shot to death in El Monte earlier this week.
Freddie Molina, 40, died at the scene of the shooting, reported just before 10:30 p.m. in the 11600 block of Rio Hondo Parkway, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Lt. David Smith said. His city of residence was unknown.
Few details were available regarding the fatal shooting. Investigators have released no information regarding the circumstances of the shooting or any possible suspects, however Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials described the slaying as possibly gang-related.
Monday’s shooting was the second homicide reported in El Monte over the past week.
Jonathan Flores, 30, of El Monte died early Saturday morning after he was found suffering from stab wounds on a sidewalk in the 12200 block of Magnolia Street, officials said.
Both investigations are being spearheaded by detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, who are assisting El Monte police.
