UPDATED: Crash shuts down westbound 210 Freeway in Arcadia


ARCADIA >> A multi-vehicle crash shut down all westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway in Arcadia Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The crash took place about 3:30 p.m. on the westbound 210 Freeway at Santa Anita Avenue, according to CHP logs.
The crash primarily involved a sedan and an SUV, however three to four other cars also sustained “collateral damage” from the collision, Arcadia Fire Department spokeswoman Beth Stogner said.
Two patients were hospitalized as a result of the crash, she said. One patient,a man, was taken to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, His injuries were initially described as moderate to serious, but later determined to be minor to moderate.
The second patient, also described as a man, was taken to the Methodist Hospital in Arcadia for treatment of apparently minor injuries, Stogner said.
Authorities issued a Sig Alert for all westbound lanes of the freeway just after 4 p.m.
All lanes were reopened about 4:50 p.m., according to the CHP. The cause of the crash was under investigation by officers from the CHP’s Altadena area office.
