BALDWIN PARK >> A suicidal man perched on the newly-completed transition road bridge between the 605 and 10 Freeway in Baldwin Park Sunday afternoon, shutting down traffic as authorities worked to reason with him, officials said.
The incident began shortly before 4 p.m. on the elevated transition road connecting the southbound 605 Freeway to the eastbound 10 Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol blogs.
Firefighters set up an air cushion beneath the bridge and summoned crisis negotiators to the scene, officials said.
Authorities ultimately managed to take the distraught man into custody just before 5 p.m., CHP Officer Tony Bishop said.
Officials were preparing to reopen affected traffic lanes.
