WHITTIER >> Police released a surveillance camera image Wednesday of a gunman who robbed a Whittier business earlier this month in hopes of generating tips from the public.
The crime unfolded about 5:15 p.m. on Jan. 7 at a self storage facility in the 12300 block of Whittier Boulevard, just north of Washington Boulevard, Whittier police Officer John Scoggins said.
(The robber) inquired about a space before pointing a gun at the employee and committing a robbery at the location,” police said in a written statement. He fled with an unknown amount of cash.
Police described the gunman as a black man, about 130 pounds and 5 feet 5 inches tall. He wore a black jacket, a white hood, blue jeans and a dark-colored baseball cap during the heist.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Whittier police Detective Jose Bolanos at 562-567-9289. Tips may also be submitted to the Whittier Police Department’s tip line at 562-567-9299.
