Man beaten and robbed after using ATM in Pasadena

PASADENA >> An attacker beat a man with a club and robbed him after the victim used an ATM in Pasadena early Wednesday morning, police said.
The crime unfolded about 4:40 a.m. at Fair Oaks Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard, Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema said.
A 56-year-old Pasadena man withdrew money from an ATM at the southwest corner of the intersection and walked across the street, the lieutenant said.
Once the victim reached the parking lot of a neighboring CVS Pharmacy, the robber approached from behind and made his move.
The attacker snuck up behind the man and struck him several times in the head with some type of club or stick, Hettema said.
The robber then grabbed the man’s money, about $160, and ran, he said.
Police described the robber as a Latino man in his early-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and of thin build.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of gashes to his head, Hettema said. The injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
