Fire scorches Pasadena home

| | Comments (0) |

PASADENA -- A fire damaged a Pasadena home Friday after the homeowner tried to reignite smoldering embers in a fireplace with gasoline, authorities said.
The incident occurred about 7:15 p.m. in at 1315 Hastings Ranch Drive, Pasadena Fire Department officials said in a written statement.
The homeowner had smoldering embers burning in a living room fireplace and tried to use gasoline to get the fire going again, officials said.
The gas burned up toward the container and started a fire in the living room, according to the statement. The homeowner was not hurt.
Two dozen firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, officials said, which caused about $60,000 worth of damage to the house.

Since he can't control the state legislature, Gov Arnold wants to change the subject. According the the SF Chronicle, Schwarzenegger thinks the time is right to talk about legalizing marijuana.

Are steroids next? (H/T LAO)

Schwarzenegger was cautious when answering a reporter's question Tuesday about whether the state should regulate and tax the substance, saying it is not time to go that far.

But, he said: "I think it's time for debate. I think all of those ideas of creating extra revenues - I'm always for an open debate on it."

The governor said California should look to the experiences of other nations around the world in relaxing laws on marijuana.

Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, has introduced a bill to regulate marijuana like alcohol, with people over 21 years old allowed to grow, buy, sell and possess cannabis - all of which are barred by federal law.
