Monrovia plans action -- against bears

| | Comments (0) |
This is planned for tomorrow's newspaper:

Monrovia Police Chief Roger Johnson is recommending thecity step up its regulations to deter residents from attracting bears and other wildlife into residential neighborhoods. Bear incursions into residential areas have been on the rise and a staff report with
several proposals, including fines for residents who don't secure their trash, will be presented to the council during its regular meeting tomorrow.

Does a bear ... ?*

bearly-legal.jpgChannel Seven is on Bear Watch 2008!

The station is reporting that a bear is on the prowl in Horsethief Canyon above San Dimas.

Their helicopter has had some interesting shots of the bear at work digging through a dumpster.

The bear looks like a cub, and obviously he's hungry.

Picnic basket anyone?

* A scanner transmission from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department indicated "it's a little bitty bear that's not harming no one. He's just going through some trash cans up there behind the nature center."

Bear-ly cooling off

Samson_Memorial.jpgThis might be the hottest day of the heat wave as it's expected to begin cooling off tomorrow.

Arcadia police reported a trio of bears, probably a momma and her cubs, took a dip in a pool at a home located at 317 Whispering Pines drive around 11:30 a.m.

The three bears were gone by the time cops arrived. No word on Golidlocks...

Reminded me of Sampson (memorialized at left)
