WEST COVINA >> Police are asking the public’s help in finding a 77-year-old man who went missing in West Covina on Saturday.
Larry Thomas was last seen about 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Cove bar, 146 S. Glendora Ave., West Covina police officials said in a written statement. He disappeared and hasn’t been seen since.
Thomas, who may be suffering from the early stages of dementia, was driving a silver, four-door, 2002 Jaguar SJ with a California license plate of 4XBK749. He was last seen wearing a royal blue Hawaiian shirt and blue jeans.

Search continues for Duarte man who vanished more than 2 months ago

DUARTE >> Officials and worried family members have renewed their call for help in finding a Duarte man whose been missing for two-and-a-half months.
Rudolph “Rudy” Mejia, 58, was last seen about 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 as he left his home on Vineyard Avenue, Deputy Jeffrey Gordon of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Information Bureau said in a written statement.
Mejia was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was found abandoned along San Gabriel Canyon Road in Azusa Canyon on Sept. 13, officials said.
“Mr. Mejia suffers from depression and cardiovascular complications,” Gordon said. “His family is very concerned and is asking for the public’s assistance.”
He’s described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 230 pounds, with short brown hair and blue eyes. He’s missing his bottom front teeth and has a 3- to 4-inch scar on his left knee. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans.

UPDATED: Body of missing hiker from La Puente discovered near Hermit Falls in Angeles National Forest

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST >> The search for a La Puente man who disappeared during a hiking trip in the Angeles National Forest north of Sierra Madre came to a tragic end Saturday when officials discovered the man’s body near the base of Hermit Falls, authorities said.
Avid outdoorsman John Richard King, 63, left his home in La Puente on Thursday morning and never returned, according to Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Information Bureau said.
His family reported him missing after he failed to return home Thursday night, as planned, officials said.
King’s car was found in the parking area of Chantry Flat, and sheriff’s search and rescue team members launched a search of the area that continued all day Friday.
The searchers discovered King’s body near the base of Hermit Falls about noon, Sgt. Alan Lie of the sheriff’s Temple Station said.
Homicide detectives and coroner’s officials were summoned to the scene to continue the investigation.
“Detectives report his body was found in the water below Hermit Falls by the Antelope Valley Search and Rescue Team,” according to Deputy Ruan Rouzan of the sheriff’s information Bureau. “It appears Mr. King, while hiking, slipped and fell approximately 40 feet into the water.”
“There appears to be no foul play, and the fall was accidental,” Rouzan said. “Mr. King’s family arrived on scene to positively identify his body.”
No further details were available.

UPDATED: 11-year-old Azusa girl who disappeared after school found safe

AZUSA >> An 11-year-old Azusa girl who never returned home from school on Friday has been found safe, police said Saturday.
Crystal Martinez attended Foothill Middle School and was released at the normal time about 3 p.m., Azusa police Sgt. Andy Sutcliffe said in a written statement.
“She was last seen with a school friend in the area of Fifth Street and Rockvale Avenue around 3 p.m. that same day,” he said.
Her father called police to report her missing about 1 a.m. on Saturday.
“He said his daughter occasionally stays out late, but has never stayed out this late, and she has no history of running away from home,” Sutcliffe said.
The girl returned home shortly before noon on Saturday, Sutcliffe said.
“Detectives are currently interviewing her, and it appears no crime had been committed,” he said

La Puente man vanishes during hiking trip in Angeles National Forest north of Sierra Madre

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST >> Rescuers continued searching the Angeles National Forest north of Sierra Madre on Friday for a 63-year-old La Puente man who went hiking Thursday and never returned, authorities said.
John Richard King was last seen about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday as he left his home in La Puente to go hiking in the Chantry Flat area of the forest, Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Information Bureau said in a written statement.
King was expected to return home by 10:30 p.m. but never arrived, Deputy Oscar Cantu of the sheriff’s Temple Station said. A worried relative reported him missing.
“The missing person’s vehicle was located in the parking area of Chantry Flat,” Saldana said. “He is an avid hiker and his family is very concerned for his wellbeing.”
Sheriff’s search and rescue teams from Sierra Madre, Malibu, Montrose and San Dimas, assisted by a helicopter, went in search of the missing hiker Thursday night. The search was halted overnight and resumed Friday morning.
King is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 220 pounds, with short gray hair, brown eyes and a gray beard.

Whittier police seek missing woman

WHITTIER >> Police are seeking a missing Whittier woman who went out for a cigarette Friday night and hasn’t been seen since.
Monique Connie Bautista, 35, was last seen between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday at her home in the 9000 block of Painter Avenue, Whittier police Lt. Steve Dean said.
“Bautista stepped out to smoke a cigarette and never returned,” Whittier police officials said in a written statement.
“Bautista is reported to suffer from depression and is bipolar,” according to the statement. “It is unknown at this time whether or not she has been taking her medication.”
Police described Bautista as Latina, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 90 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Help sought finding missing Montebello teen

MONTEBELLO >> Police are asking the public’s help in finding a 17-year-old Montebello girl whose been missing for more than a month.
Isabel Frias was last seen on the night of Sept. 6 at her home in Montebello, prior to gong to sleep, Montebello police officials said in a written statement.
Her parents believed she had walked to school the following morning, but she never arrived, officials said.
“It is believed that Isabel may have run away with her boyfriend, Victor Alvarez, to an unknown location,” according to the statement.
“There have been possible sightings of Isabel in the East Los Angeles area near Obregon Park and Cesar Chavez Avenue,” the statement added.

Officials seek teen who went missing in Temple City

TEMPLE CITY >> Sheriff’s officials asked the public’s help Thursday in finding a 17-year-old boy who went missing in Temple City.
Sterling Williamson was last seen about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Birchland Place in Temple City, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said in a written statement.
“The missing juvenile takes anxiety and antidepressant medication,” according the statement. “Possible areas of travel are Claremont where Williamson used to live, or Sierra Madre where his grandparents reside.”
He’s described a white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 155 pounds, with green eyes and black hair.

Police still seeking missing Pasadena woman with dementia

PASADENA >> Police renewed their call for the public’s help in finding a 71-year-old Pasadena woman with dementia who went missing more than a week ago.
Patricia Gwynn Williams was last seen about 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 6 at her home in the 800 block of North Los Robles Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Vasken Gourdikian said in a written statement.
Her husband returned home about 2:30 p.m. and discovered her missing, he said. “It is believed that she walked away from her residence.”
Officers searched the area but found no sign of Williams, Gourdikian said.
A witness reported seeing the missing woman alone about 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 7 at Roy’s Restaurant, 641 E. Colorado Blvd., police said. But she walked away before officers arrived and could not be found.
“She suffers dementia and has a history of walking away from her residence,” Gourdikian said. “She has also been known to frequent the area of
Williams is white, 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing a blue-and-white patterned short-sleeve shirt, black and white slacks and gray Sketchers shoes.

Duarte man sought after vanishing two weeks ago

DUARTE >> Authorities are asking the public to keep an eye out for a 58-year-old Duarte man suffering from medical problems who’s been missing for two weeks.
Rudolph “Rudy” Mejia was last seen leaving his Vineyard Avenue home about 3:30 p.m. Sept. 1, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said in a written statement.
Mejia left home in his white, 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck. But the truck was found abandoned along San Gabriel Canyon Road in the Azusa Canyon on Tuesday, officials said. The were no signs the truck had been involved in a crash.
“The missing persons suffers from depression and heart issues,” according to the statement. “His family is very concerned and is also asking for the public’s assistance.”
Mejia is Latino, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 230 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes and missing bottom front teeth. He has a 3- to 4-inch vertical scar on the front of his left knee.
He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.
