Pasadena indecent exposure suspect arrested following foot chase

PASADENA >> Police officers chased down and arrested a transient Wednesday after receiving reports he was to himself in front of a Pasadena grocery store, officials said.
Kasim Iskander Haiat, 46, was booked on suspicion of indecent exposure and resisting or obstructing police, according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.
Officials received a report about 2:20 p.m. that a man was exposing and touching himself in front of Trader Joe’s, 610 S. Arroyo Parkway, Pasadena police Lt. Mark Goodman said.
The man ran when officers arrived, leading them on a foot chase through residential neighborhood that ended more than a mile away when he finally surrendered in the 700 block of South Arroyo Boulevard, the lieutenant said.
According to booking records, Haiat was released from custody with a misdemeanor citation pending his initial court appearance.

Man exposes self to girls outside South Pasadena Middle School


SOUTH PASADENA >> Police are seeking a man who exposed himself to two South Pasadena Middle School girls in front of the campus Thursday.
The indecent exposure took place about 1:40 p.m. in front of the school, 1500 Fair Oaks Ave., South Pasadena police officials said in a written statement.
“A male subject exposed himself in the presence of two female middle school students as he drove past the school,” the statement said.
“Both students believe the suspect was unaware of their presence as he drove passed the school westbound on Oak Street, then turning northbound on Fair Oaks Avenue,” the statement continued. “The subject did not approach the two students or attempt to contact them.”
Police described the suspect as a man of unknown race, between 30 and 55 years old, wearing a white baseball-style T-shirt with red sleeves. He was driving a grey Lexus sedan of unknown year and license plate number.

Sex offender accused of lewd acts in public in Pasadena

PASADENA >> Police jailed a convicted sex offender Tuesday after witnesses reported seeing him exposing and touching himself in Pasadena, officials said.
Edward Frank Valdivia, a 51-year-old transient, was booked on suspicion of committing lewd acts in public about 9:45 p.m. in the 200 block of South Raymond Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Mark Goodman said.
When officers responded to a report of a man exposing and touching himself in front of a restaurant, they encountered Valdivia, “who had his pants down,” the lieutenant said.
Police detained Valdivia without incident and arrested him once witnesses identified him as the person who exposed himself, Goodman said.
According to California’s sex offender registry, Valdivia has previous convictions for indecent exposure and for assault with intent to commit a sex offense.
According to county booking records, Valdivia was being held without bail pending his initial court appearance, scheduled Thursday in Pasadena Superior Court.
