Police: Man arrested outside ex-girlfriends Pasadena home with knife, mask, gloves

PASADENA >> Police jailed a jilted lover Friday after he made threats via phone and text messages to his ex-girlfriend, then showed up at her Pasadena home, in violation of a restraining order, equipped with a knife, a ski mask and surgical gloves, officials said.
Joseph David Sosa, 18, of Pasadena was booked on suspicion of felony stalking, according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.
An 18-year-old Pasadena woman called police about 4 p.m. to report her ex-boyfriend, whom she had a restraining order against, had made death threats over the phone earlier in the day and was sending her photos of himself standing in front of her home in the 1500 block of Locust Street via text message, Pasadena police Lt. John Mercado said.
“When we arrived on scene, he ran from our officers,” the lieutenant said. “The officers noted that he was wearing surgical gloves.”
Once captured nearby, police also found Sosa had a 6-inch-long letter opener tucked into his waistband, as well as a ski mask in his backpack, Mercado said.
Sosa is on probation after being convicted of vandalism in June, Los Angeles County Superior Court records show.
According to booking records, he was being held in lieu of $2 million bail pending his initial court appearance.
