Damien vs. Diamond Ranch, Sept. 10 … mark it down …

That’s right, Roddy and Gano will be back on the same field again. If memory serves me correct, that’s good times for all. The two teams agreed to play each other a couple weeks ago, so some of you probably already know this. But hey, I wasn’t here a couple weeks ago.

This from Roddy Layton: It’s funny because Gano and I had this rivalry going. We never lost to them when he was at Los Altos and it seemed like something always happened, so it’s kind of surprising to play them (Damien). Damien was looking for a home game, but I’m sure Greg (Gano) wants to kick my butt so he agreed to make it an away game for them.

More Roddy on Gano: Having been to two championship games, I know how hard it is just to get there. I sit back and say Greg Gano has won four CIF championships. He’s one of the legendary coaches in the SGV. I’m still trying to make a name for myself and his ink is already dry.

Roddy on (finally) playing Diamond Bar: They have to play us now. To me, it’s a natural rivalry. Is it our strongest competitor? No. But it’s like when you’re in Little League and you play your friends, they always play better. You have all these kids growing up in the same city together and they never played? It didn’t make any sense. It’s going to be fun.

Roddy on Amat: What other school in the Valley is going to host Mater Dei, host all those people and beat them? To me, they’re the No. 1 team in the Valley because they play tough teams week after week. (Aram’s note: Roddy hasn’t seen this year’s Amat schedule, but point taken).

Roddy on not being in Charter Oak’s division next season: I don’t want to win a CIF championship and have everyone saying “That’s weak, look who you’re playing. And I know all the Charter Oak people will be saying “You never beat us.” We may stay in the Southeast. That’s what everyone is saying, but it’s still not a guarantee that we get to the championship or win the championship. It’s still going to be tough. I told my coaches we have two years to go get a championship, then we can go back and compete with Bishop Amat and Charter Oak because those are the top two teams now.

  • DRanchhhh

This looks to be a fresh start without the “week after week” Bishop Amat, CO and SH tribute Blogs. I hope you can open it up and talk about the other almost 21 plus schools in the SGV.

On a brighter note, DR is looking forward to that game against GANO/Damien. Last time we played against that guy well…lets just say our 7-3 record turned into a 2-8 record over an AD slip up!! Damien has a very good group of guys coming back and we are hoping to make it a Panther day on the Spartan field !!

I am surprised Layton did not schedule Charter Oak. It is also surprising that Bogan did not schedule Diamond Ranch. I would think that each of these coaches has soemthing to prove against the respective competition.

  • Just sayin’

DRanchhh – just wait. A football only blog means more will get their chance and we’ll have 5 hits on those threads and 50-100 on your “tribute blogs”. That’s life in the Fish Bowl.

  • AMAT 73

As long as you don’t come on with the same type of bs you put on Fred’s blog . Just try and keep your post relevent to the subject matter and this blog will be fine.

  • AMAT 73

Since you put in the comment pertaining to AMAT’S upcoming schedule . Do you have insight as to how that is panning out . Just wondering if the all the blanks have been filled in yet.

I heard La Mirada was moving in to the Southeast if this is true, that will be a battle if the they (DRanch) meet in the playoffs! La Mirada has four legit D 1 kids from what rivals.com is saying. Should be one hell of a Division this year (Southeast)

  • wow

i wish layton would say that diamond bar DID schedule d ranch but they dropped out of the game last second…. he is the one that afraid
