    Aram,

You guys need to pump the H Of F game better so more folks turn out. Coaches, rosters, history, etc.

At the least, tell everyone about the nifty Baldwin Park HS stadium and their kickazz carne asada burritos at the snack stand.

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

    Don,

There hasn’t been a writer in the history of the Tribune or Star-News who pumped that game harder than me. But, although I’ve asked, I haven’t gotten the rosters yet because they simply aren’t available and there has been some mixups along the way with the coaches and game organizers. Believe me, I’m trying.

  • Aaron

All Aram would be talking about is the burritos, in fact I don’t know if he’d be watching the game at all.

Speaking of food Aram, what happened to lunch time blogs with photos!

  • Here comes Southern Cali…

In the next few weeks, the 64 teams will be set for Development Academy Playoffs that will take place in Greensboro, N.C., from June 22-26.

  • July 10 conflict – NUC Regional 100 Combine vs Arroyo Shootout

NUC West Coast (7 state) Ultimate 100 Regional Combine has been changed to Sat July 10 at Cathedral – bet there are going to be some playmakers not at Arroyo Shootout because of the change of dates – u know they are going to the regional combine with a chance to go to the national combine at the Univ of Oklahoma instead of the 7-on-7 tourney

    Don

I wonder if the “other” all star game will arise and pull off athletes like it has the last couple years. That and the last 2 years seemed so many promised, even practiced, – but did not show.
U R right the game needs some hype.

Here is an interesting football link that mostly covers the northwestern part of LA county.

This link has an excellent insight on passing tournaments as well as allot of info on much of Amat’s competition.

    Aram

not sure why you have not posted this article for blog comment.

Last year M-town lived off a base foundation of maybe 5 plays. This year my prediction is a more creative Wildcat offense, driven by putting pass/run threat Bueno outside the tackles and forcing the D to commit one way or the other. Definitely a huge offensive year for Monrovia – not the repetitive, bludgeoning attack of last year.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Champion Saints might be better this year

The thought of San Dimas High School’s football team being even better than last year has to be a scary thought for the rest of the Mid-Valley Division.
That’s what it’s looking like after the Saints concluded a strong spring practice with a solid showing against Claremont in a passing game on Thursday. Coach Bill Zernickow’s team now will turn its attention to the summer passing circuit and later fall practice.

“We’re ahead of where we’ve been in the past,” Zernickow said. “That’s because of so many guys returning. What we really like is our younger guys and our depth.

“That’s much better than it’s been in the past.”

The Saints went 13-1 last season and avenged their only loss by beating Monrovia in the Mid-Valley Division championship game. San Dimas welcomes back a bevy of linemen and skill players.

One of the key returnees, quarterback Sean Kennedy, missed all of spring practice with a broken foot he suffered in baseball. But all that did was open the door for sophomore-to-be Emilio Zertuche to impress coaches over the past month.

Is there a quarterback controversy? Zernickow said not yet, but he’s waiting to see how Kennedy progresses from his injury.

Regardless, fans can expect to see plenty of Zertuche in the fall.

“It all depends on how Sean comes back,” Zernickow said. “Sean’s really good. It’s going to be fun. Competition at every spot is good.”

No matter who’s under center, Z
said the goal will be to get the ball to 6-foot-4 receiver Kevin Kolbeck.
Fans can see just how good San Dimas is at doing that by checking out the Saints in the Arroyo Tournament on July 10 at Arroyo High. That will be San Dimas’ only tournament appearance this summer.

    Strong up front

Monrovia’s big concern this offseason has been replacing four offensive linemen. So far, so good for coach Ryan Maddox.

He has moved star defensive lineman Ellis McCarthy to offensive tackle, where he’s expected to thrive at nearly 6-foot-5, 270 pounds. McCarthy’s bookend will be Faustino Macatanagay, who didn’t play last season but at 6-4, 260 adds to Monrovia’s considerable size.

“We know we have the kids, we just don’t have the game experience,” Maddox said. “We have the potential to be better than last year up front. We’ve got some really hard-working kids, they just need experience.”

There’s no doubt about Monrovia’s skill players. The Wildcats return quarterback Nick Bueno and a bevy of speedy weapons for him to use.

Monrovia will fine-tune its skill players this summer with trips to the Arroyo and Bonita passing tournaments.

“This year is the opposite of last year when we had a lot of linemen back and were young at the skill positions,” Maddox said. “I don’t want to say they struggled, but they made very common young mistakes like dropping ball. Now they’re a much more experienced group.”
