Baldwin Park’s Wardell Crutchfield III, aka WC3, heading to UTEP …

Baldwin Park linebacker Wardell Crutchfield III has given a verbal commitment to UTEP.

Crutchfield, who transferred to Baldwin Park from Duarte prior to his junior season in ’09, is the son of former Duarte coach and current Baldwin Park coach Wardell Crutchfield Jr., who is the brother of former Muir and BYU standout Tony Crutchfield.

Aram’s take: Needless to say, football runs in the Crutchfield family. Congrats to WC3!!! He’s headed to an up and coming UTEP program and has a chance to start right away as a freshman, from what I hear. But first he has to help the Bravos get through the Valle Vista League.

One, good for him. Two, UTEP hasn’t done so well since Jordan Palmer set records as a junior.

  • Punk

We played them in 7on7 today, I am assuming he was the MLB. Personnaly shocked this guy is going D1, I saw nothing but a punk. Really didn’t see the skill set you would expect to see in a D1 player. I now understand why the negative comments toward the Crutchfield’s.

Now those two receivers over at Walnut, that is D1 talent.

  • V.V.L.

Was at walnut today to watch a 4 way between Walnut, Wilson, Baldwin park and Chaffey, was very impressed with walnuts size and wilsons toughness, was very disappointed with b.p. quitting against Wilson because Crutchfields defense was getting beat up, although he said that wilson players were talking to much trash andthats why he pulled his team off of the field and quit. I also wonder how Huggins (b.p. Head coach) let’s his d.c. pull the team and quit, who is running the show over there Huggins or Critchfield? Overall some good competition let’s see what’s going on and Arroyo this thursday.

  • Wilson hands it to B Park at 7-7

Wilson took care of B park at Walnut just as they did the week before against San Dimas // JR Nelson paid B Park back for their cheep shot to his head by his INT in the endzone that would have been a 100 yarder // if u count INT Td’s the score was Wilson 5-1 // and once again Aubry for Walnut only gets one completion against Nelson // and once again Aram and Fred will totally ignore Wilson as well // for what it is worth – Wilson is the only school to have 3 incoming juniors go to the NUC West Ulrimate 100 regional combine on the 10th of July – B Amat has 3 players but Wallace Gonzales will be a senior

  • Really

First of all WCIII does not play MLB. if you were really watching instead of thinking of ways to hate you would have seen a kid who played OLB, CB, FS and SS. I dont know if there are many Lb’s that can do that. Stop all this hating and just be happy for the kid or don’t say anything at all. P.S Wilson did not even score period check your facts or if your a coach stop lyin…

Congrats to The Crutchfield and his family. Duarte and monrovia have d one players. You will see more players from that area go D 1.
People lets celebrate and uplift these young men doing something positive. Remember he is a kid/ young man. He will mature. It is coaches job to help a young man become better and the coaches at utep see something in him. If he has a attitude, which i don’t think is the case, it can be fixed. I am happy for the young brother. I wish him nothing but the best. It’s too bad Duarte let his father and family coaching staff go. They were the best staff duarte ever had. Stop the hatred, and help these young men make it…Shalom!

This is off the topic, but West Covina’s passing game
that was scheduled today at Lakewood was changed to a game vs Claremont at West Covina’s field today.

  • A “young brother” and “shalom” in the same post. Unreal.

I want to extend a warm hello to all our readers in Israel.

  • Dear Really we’ll youtube the plays

    Dear really –

the 2 INT’s that would have gone the distance for Wilson are on video and am told that the TD the backup QB threw to J Ibanes is on tape as well – will let you know so u can see it

  • Valle Vista

Dang, Wilson sounds legit!! Kicking SD’s and BP’s ass, I guess we need to make them the favorites now right???? Zavala is working his magic at Wilson. I’m calling it now 14-0!!!!!!!!

  • JR NOT

JR Nelson did not make the cut for the U100. Only the Wilson lineman who also was awarded camp mvp for strongest lineman was the only wilson cat that made it to the U100. Only Charter Oak and Bishop Amat made the cut with multiple players in our area.

  • Dearest NOT ‘ers

check your stats: the following three players from Wilson are at the combine on July 10 –
Joseph Prohoff Keith Hawk JR Nelson

Joseph and Keith qualified in Feb and JR qualified in the April Beat The Heat Combine at Cathedral as the second overall WR // check out – go to the Ultimate 100 Invitees – It does list Keith Hawk as being at Cathedral but that is a misprint – he is an incoming junior at Wilson – so check facts people before u start writing info – Wilson will ahve 3 at the West Coast regional Ultimate 100

  • wilson parent

We have been improving at these 7on7s, but a long way from beating these teams when the pads come on. Most of these teams are bigger and stronger than us. That being said we have improved from last season.

  • Aaron

Well since we’re talking about Wilson it seems some people do not understand the rules of seven on seven in passing league.

    Touchdown-six points
    Interception-two points
    No pass-nothing

  • JR NOT

Dearest NOT ‘ers please let me know where JR’s name is under the u100 because your three is dwarfed by Our 7 or 8 at Bishop Amat.

  • really really

That only goes to show how weak this kid really is no impact on 7on7.

  • Dear JR Not-ster

OK Now we know you are a BA supporter, fine – Adam Sanchez (good kid from BA) won the MVP at the April NUC Combine for wide receiver and JR was second – however in the showcase – where the top 6 WR’s compete against the top DB’s – JR Nelson shined and Adam wasnt one of the top 6 // in fact Nelson (though still with his foot injury) was also in the showcase at the Feb combine – the only WR in S Cal to be in the final showcase at both combines (Feb & April). And yes, Joseph P. won the MVP for lineman and strongest man award – making other linemen look like waterboys // Keith Hawk will be there as a DB

but let’s wish all area athletes success to go on to the nationals at the Univ of Oklahoma 2 weeks after the regional

  • Crutchfield aka DEFENSIVE MASTERMIND?

    Talk about a 7on7 defense,

Wilson had the ball on the 20 yard line, last play and what does Crutchfield pull out. He takes all seven of his defensive players and puts them on the goal line, 20 yards off the line of scrimmage. I couldn’t help but laugh. Talk about a coach sending a message to his players.

  • Born and Raised SGV

    Valle Vista,
Do not get too excited about a few passing games. Wilson will finish 4th behind (no particular order) SD, BP and Covina.
SD is strong again along with BP. Covina is no longer a group soph’s that you lost against last year.

  • Wilson Parent

    Born and Raised SGV,

Interesting comment, San Dimas and Baldwin Park I see but where did Covina come from. I could see 4th but behind San Dimas, Pomona and Baldwin Park in that order. Based on the Covina Wilson game last year you can only conclude this is gong to be a game. Wilson also was very young last year.

  • The Mid

Fellas fellas…. Wilson is HORRIBLE. They will battle Nogales for the bottom. No one is saying anything about POMONA. They are legit. Rice has them on track over there and everyone, Saints included, better look out. Order of finish:

    1. SD (great coaching, and plenty of smoke and mirrors, coach Z is David Copperfield)
    2. BP (great coaching and plenty of beef)
    3. Pomona (has 1st place talent)
    4. Covina (small but scrappy, been running the same system for long time)
    5. Nogales (sleeper)
    6. Wilson (too much testosterone, try Yoga Zavala)
    7. Northview (no coaching)

  • Status

Anyone got status on the 6 way over at arroya?

Who was their, I was told LP, West Covina, Arroya, Wilson, El Monte and one other team. All this talk about Wilson sure would like to know how they did.

  • Arroyo 6 way

I thought the structure of the 6 way sucked – offenses would play one play then another team would play one play and continue to alternate – the only 10 play drive competition for Wilson was against El Monte – they had 3 Td’s to zero though El Monte got to the 5 yd line once – Wilson did not play against La Puente nor Monrovia at all, they held their own against West Covina (I think W Covina scored a TD though)and I would say they looked good with Arroyo, but the teams kept switching all the time – there was no consistancy because there were really no offensive drives because of the round robin system – if this is 6 team 7 on 7 – then I’ll stick to watching 3 or 4 team competitions – it was really hard to gauge

  • v.r.c

why all the hatred toward the Crutchfield’s?
Let’s be positive here & be happy for wc3.

  • Thank you, I have recently been looking for info approximately this topic for ages and yours is the best I’ve came upon till now. However, what concerning the bottom line? Are you certain in regards to the supply?|What i do not understood is if truth be told how you are not actually a lot more well-liked than you may be right now. You are very intelligent.
