Muir QB Jeffrey Davis unveils his new hairdo and WR Karl Holmes talks Amat, Tussle and beyond …

I was out at Muir on Tuesday with Star-News prep editor Miggy Melendez. I have one word for you: Wow. It’s still very early and I know the ‘Stangs usually pass the look test, but this is different. I’m used to seeing the 4-5 D-1 frames, instead it’s more 10-12. Think I’m kidding?

Anyway, I was impressed with what I saw and it’s pretty clear Muir has the makings of a dynamite offense. New QB Jeffrey Davis has had a great offseason from all reports and he’s certainly got the targets in Karl Holmes, DaDa McFadden and Kevon Seymour. And the line looks great, too. Cameron Palmer and Danny Huerta are pretty big dudes, but Shawn Wilcox is mammoth. And RB Howard Vaughn is a truck.

I know Muir was only 4-7 last year, but on look-test alone you can see why this is the worst keep secret since the chill cheese fries at Jim’s (on Woodbury and Lincoln). Thought I wasn’t?
