Today we play a little game called OVER/UNDER …

It’s real simple I’ll put out a number to a corresponding stat or situation and then give my take: Over or Under. You may do the same by commenting or tell me what an idiot I am or simply find another site to read. But the fact is I haven’t had FUN on a job in nearly three years so now I’m going to.

UHOH. Alot of people are gonna say your encouraging gambling on h.s. football by this post. Those men who do bet on these games locally are not nice people and will ruin the sport for a quick buck. Too many other ways to have fun on this blog than this way. RETHINK. I don’t need an odds maker.

  • Chill out

It’s just for fun reality. Do you stand up at football games and warn teams about their 50-50 drawing encouraging gambling with hs football. Lol, I like this sort of stuff, nice job AT. Keep em coming! If you don’t like it, then dont waste your time reading and commenting on it.

I disagree with you on Muir (over), Inland valley playoffs (Under), Charter oak playoffs (Under), Valley Vista playoffs (probably push, but under more likely than over), BP defense (under, maybe… if over, I’m even more certain of the valley vista odds being under). Everything else looks like a good bet to me.

  • OVER/UNDER Part 2

200 Los Altos students running on the field during the game this year againsty Wilson
    OVER/UNDER 1
Bet: push – they will be running for the exits by halftime, not the field

Chances JR Nelson transfers to Charter Oak at the continual request of CO top skill players
    OVER/UNDER 1/2
Bet: under – loyalty supercedes temptation

References by Fred and Aram mentioning B Amat this year
    OVER/UNDER – 2 million
Bet: Over – they need to sell newspapers I guess

Referees make very bad calls that have major playoff implications
    OVER/UNDER 3
Bet: Over, human error and inexperience

Players who stumble on Schurr’s uneven football field this year
    OVER/Under: 1267
Bet: Over, one of the worst fields in modern history

Schreimman gets blamed for blogs he does not write
    OVER/UNDER: 28
Bet: push, he is forgetting how to write

  • JR at CO – impossible – CIF rules

after playing 4 games on the freshman team JR Nelson started the rest of the season on varsity as a freshman CB and also played running back and WR – CIF rules say u cannot change schools if u play varsity as a freshman

  • Shaq Fu

    OVER/UNDER Part 2

IF jr gets a “good” college offer it will be for defense, not offense. There are plenty of wr’s out there that can catch the ball who are taller than 6′. Besides, with the lack of a qb at Wilson, none of their wr’s will get much of a look.

  • Missouri Born

“JR at CO – impossible – CIF rules”

Prove it! Where does it say that in the CIF rule book?

  • Interesting piece of newsworthy information

JR Nelson to C.O. sounds good to the rest of the S.G.V. Him playing on a bigger stage gets him more exposure not to mention notoriety. Talk about a compliment to other big time receiver. Him being at C.O. would be a shell shock maybe early but he would then probably elevate his game to another level and at the end could write his ticket out of town. Heck, if nothing else he would enjoy playing in front of a bigger crowd and they seem to take care of their kids. I don’t blame him. Good luck kid.

  • Track Insider Knows:

JR is going to get track offers also – and he wants to do both track and football – that is why he may go to a mid level or even a lower D1 or FCS so he can do both – most high level D1 football caoches probably arent interested in two sport guys anymore – particularily those BCS calibur ones showing interest on his youtube site

    SGV’sBest,

Have you seen Amat’s nonleague? If they don’t win each of those games, then something’s wrong. I think they will so that’s six right there.

About Wallace Gonzalez: Look man, you want a guy that size to be a ballerina and a track star, too? No way. His footwork and speed looked fine to me and beside that, nobody’s gonna be able to check him. You think a DB is gonna tackle him once he gets the ball? Don’t kid yourself.

You have to start using your head and not your heart to make these calls. Your disgust for Amat shines through and it’s obvious you aren’t thinking clearly.

  • Hey Track Insider:

Track Insider – forget the youtube site and the ‘hollywood production’ stuff – JR Nelson’s Ultimate 100 combine tape was put up a couple of days ago at the following:

  • V.V.L.

    Aram,
Know for a fact that all 4 wild card teams are going to be from different leagues, this is directly from Wigods mouth. The question is what 2 leagues in the mid-valley aren’t going to get their 3rd place teams in? I say mission valley and rio hondo even though it should be the Olympic league since they only have 5 teams.

  • Norco

    Aram….

Wallace Gonzalez….a kid that size will come down easy…don`t kid yourself that a DC won`t tell his Db`s to take out his legs when he is running the ball…..get real man

  • Wow

    Norco,

Congrats on your Offensive Lineman being granted a FIFTH year! What the hell is that dude? Literally you guys requested he get granted a FIFTH year of eligibility because he missed the first semester of his freshman year when he was living in Ohio after undergoing back surgery. I just don’t know what to say and am eagerly waiting your comback.

  • The bigger they are…?

    Norco

A kid as big as Wallace Gonzales does not always come down so easily. A great example is RB Anthony Barr who at Loyola was 6’4″ 225 lbs.

Barr ran for 216 yards vs. Concord De La Salle and Bishop Amat, 120 yards vs Notre Dame, 169 yards vs. Crespi, 143 yards vs. Mission Viejo. In all (2008 season) he had 1,890 yards on 255 carries and averaged 7.41 yards a carry!

I’m sure every single coach that had to play against him told their kids to “tackle his legs.” lol!

  • anonymous

    Don’t bet the house!!!

  • Norco

    Well since you asked…

    Its all perfectly legal…
First Brent missed his first semester of his freshmen year due to a back injury.
Second he qualifies under CIF’s hardship clause. Due to the fact the State of California did not consider many of his classes worthy to count toward graduation, Brent is effect missed his entire freshman year…
Brent just turned 18 a week ago (if anyoine is interesetd)…
Finally, the rule is in writing and Brent is well within his rights to play his 8th consecutive semester of HS football…
The bottom line is that there’s a rule in place, and Norco is doing what they feel is necessary to comply with that rule…

For those of us with brains, however, theCIFSS Bluebooksets the rules, and the relevant rules for this discussion are in sections 203 and 204. Specifically, 203 defines age restrictions, 204.A defines that you get 8 consecutive semesters of eligibility (meaning missing first semester of freshman year would enable first semester of a 5th year of eligibility) and 204.D deals with hardship exceptions / absence.

  • Dan

    Aram,
I mentioned this on Freds blog but I just wanted to say that former West Covina standout Walter Thurmond
made his pro football debute for the Seattle Seahawks
on Saturday night, he played very well and from what I counted he had 5 tackles, and also had a nice 10 yard punt return along with what at first appeared to be a fumble recovery but was ruled an incomplete pass, if it had been ruled a fumble he would have scored a touchdown.
Over all he had a good game, hopefully this performance will help him make the final cut which I believe comes in August.

  • For Dan

Walter Thurmond (fourth round) That the cornerback from Oregon is even playing at this point is impressive enough, after the major knee injury that ended his 2009 season for the Ducks. Thurmond is practicing and playing with a cumbersome brace on his surgically reconstructed right knee, but its not preventing him from making plays.

He had the best day at the UW scrimmage (on Aug. 8), so theres nothing to think other than getting him fully healthy, Carroll said. Hes just an active, physical kid and he continues to make things happen. So thats a great sign for us and hes just another great pick for us.

Thurmond had four solo tackles against the Titans, to go with his knockout shot on running back Quinton Ganther during the mock game at UW and the lunging interception he made on the practice field Monday.

  • Dan

    To for Dan,
Thanks for the additional info on Walter, what is the UW scrimmage is it a team scrimmage that the Seahawks have? As for Walter, the kid has always had a never say die mind set, you could see it in him even when he played at WC, from what I’ve seen, his mind and attitude are his greatest attributes.

  • UW

Seattle held an intersquad scrimmage at the University of Washington on Aug. 8th.
