RB De’Shawn Ramirez no longer attending Monrovia …

Running back De’Shawn Ramirez is no longer attending Monrovia High School, making it a near certainty that the junior will not return to the Wildcats football team.

Ramirez was suspended from the team earlier this summer, but at the time was reportedly working to do what it took to return to the team at some point this season. In June, Monrovia coach Ryan Maddox wouldn’t rule out Ramirez being cleared to play after missing a portion of the season.

Ramirez, who dazzled fans at times last year as a sophomore, would have been one of the backs in the Valley. It’s unclear what school he is attending. The Wildcats are one of the preseason favorites in the Mid-Valley Division after going 13-1 last season.

if i was to guess, i would say that he winds up at Charter Oak or South Hills, i dont know anything, just a feeling, i remember him playing as a 11 yr old, he was good then

He’s got to be enrolled somewhere. Investigate??

I looked on CIF’s website for transfer request/approvals and saw nothing. I don’t think he’ll be playing anywhere this year. Hopefully losing his junior season isn’t costly.

What I say right now may sour some people, but I guarantee with news of this the feelers will start being put out. Paul could be on to something.

  • Aaron

I heard back in July that he would be transferring to Kaiser.

thanks guys, cuz that kid is a horse

DeShawn Ramirez is currently attending Canyon continuation school in Monrovia at least for this semester, if he gets his grades up he will be invited back to Monrovia High School and will be available to play next season. Anyone tell you anything else, doesn’t know what they are talking about.

  • Fil Lujan

I am a teacher at Canyon Oaks High School and I have De’Shawn in one of my classes. I was also his position coach last year at Monrovia HS and have firsthand knowledge of his football abilities. As I see De’Shawn daily, I am reminded that he, like all the other student/athletes discussed on the blogs, is young and prone to mistakes. In this regard, De’Shawn is no different than many of the bloggers who read and post here… those that stumbled during their formative years and needed focused intervention to save them from themselves.

Right now, De’Shawn is working hard to straighten his path toward graduation and ultimately, achieve success in life. Please allow him this opportunity by supporting his efforts. What he needs now is strong, selfless guidance… not the greedy desires of another district’s football team that only knows De’Shawn as a jersey-wearer.

If you would like to discuss this further, feel free to contact me.

    Respectfully,

    Coach Fil Lujan
    Canyon Oaks High School
    Monrovia, CA

    Coach Lujan,

Not a soul here has said anything negative about the young man and nor will they. Just reporting that one of the top backs in the area likely won’t be playing this season. That’s all.

  • Fil Lujan

    Aram -

I didn’t say that that anyone had been negative towards De’Shawn. My post was in reply to the misinformed postings about his whereabouts and possible destinations. He would be best served by the blog’s football fraternity by leaving him alone for now and allowing him to refocus his life and priorities.

I am not questioning your reporting… just the football-first responses to it.

I stand by my earlier statement. To pretend that their are no persons seeking to better their team(s) by taking advantage of this situation is naive.

  • Papa John

    Coach Lujan:

Graduation and successful life are far more important than football. Keep up the good work with DeShawn and a great comeback story is in the future.

We certainly all screw up. At DeShawn’s age, I thought I was a tagger. All 300 pounds of white-boy ass got arrested at the Sav-On near my mom’s. I agree with Coach Lujan, we all brick it at some point. A lot of people still are. Hopefully DeShawn figures it out and comes back with a monster senior season and then a scholly.

Well done, Coach. In the spirit of taking a preventive strike against the vultures, we will refer to your post as the “Lujan Doctrine.”

  • I smell a Saint repeat. God is on our side.

    Coach,

I hope your smarter than the average wildcat. Do not be so presumptuous and assume that South Hills, Charter Oak, or anyone else for that matter would be recruiting your prized running back. Everyone respects that you are being protective of your athlete that you have developed a relationship with and good for you that you are trying to be unconditional to him helping him overcome his obstacles but I doubt very highly anyone is really recruiting your running back.

Coach you should seriously focus your energy on your classroom, team, and athletes and spend less time reading AND posting on the blog. Posting at 11:14 AM tells me you better be on your conference period and not on the computer during class time. Why does bitterness and sour grapes read like paranoia? Everyone accepts in different weather conditions you win the football game versus San Dimas last year. This year no excuses! Good luck and we’ll see you in December.

P.S. I appreciate you “calling out” the Valley to contact you too. Haha!

Mr. I smell a saint repeat,,,,, It’s not going to happen. We have way more weapons this year and even without the services of Mr. Ramirez we will dominate your team on the O and the D this year like we did in the first meeting. Hope you make it to Dec. if so maybe we will have that rematch.

  • Bob

Canyon Oaks HS continuation school in Monrovia?? I sorry the chances of him going back to Monrovia are not good. Good luck son your going to need it…

  • Not another Bob

Sorry Bob, but several students have had to attend a continuation school for some reason or another. DeShawn is already making major improvments in the classroom and you can mark my words “HE WILL BE BACK” maybe you should be a bit more optimistic if you wish the best for this kid.

  • Goldenarm

I am sure Ramirez has his own regrets to ponder.
He won’t be the last high schooler that exhibited a shot of poor judgement or made a mistake that affected his young life much more than he anticipated…

With people like coach Lujan in his corner – chances for a positive outcome are greatly improved.

  • Coach Lujan for president

Saints smell like A** repeatedly or SD D- bags like I like to call you folks,

You are going to be sorry you ever said that about Monrovia and Coach Lujan, the Wildcats are going to annihilate your sorry sd team! Mr. Lujan is a great teacher and Coach that has been a great role model for both students and athletes for many years. For you to come on here and be negative on this subject and to make fun of the situation is uncalled for. You better remember the day you “in luck” managed to beat the Wildcats because it won’t happen again anytime soon. Ha ha you didn’t look to good in week one, you better hope you don’t loose to S. El Monte, god that will make you look like even more of an idiot than you already are.

  • Monrovia Fans

    Monrovia fans,

SD has the rings??? Call it luck, call it bad weather… wait, they played in the same weather and killed you guys. I have tape of the game when your backs did not want to run the ball, and how did the game end, Bueno getting crushed in the endzone. All the same, excuse after excuse. It doesn’t matter what you do in the PRE-SEASON, it’s the playoffs that count. Win the big game then start talking.. Huh, if the Pre-Season counted the Raiders would be the NFL Champs.

Good Luck to Ramirez, he was and is going to be fun to watch when he returns.
