UPDATED: Southeast Division championship needs a venue; Citrus and Mt. SAC booked …

UPDATED: Charter Oak High is emerging as a strong candidate to host the Southeast Division title game.

The game is on between West Covina and Bonita for the Southeast Division championship, but where they play it remains up in the air.

Damien and Walnut high schools are looking like the front runners. Bonita is the home team, so it’s up to the school’s administration to make a final decision.

Other possibilities are one of the Chino-area schools or Covina District Field.

Citrus has an event at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning and could not its stadium clean in time. Mt. SAC’s football team has the national championship game the next day, so that’s out.

Aram’s take: If I had to guess, I’d say the game will be at Damien. That place would provide some amazing atmosphere and would be very convenient for the Bearcats’ contingent. Covina District Field would also be a great spot, but like Walnut, that would actually be closer to West Covina.

Monrovia is playing at home, so can the Bonita Bearcats!

Covina District Field. Bring in end zone bleachers. Plenty of parking and eateries close by for after the game. Up close and personal atmosphere. Close to my house.

What if they hosted it at Diamond Bar High? Seems pretty neutral to me

  • Homer

Agree with Aaron. Since Bonita is the home team play it at Glenn Davis Stadium. If not, then Damien should be the second choice. Keep the game in La Verne; gate turnout from the locals would be much better (Although I do like Citrus College alot, but I guess it has a prior event all ready slated).

  • Yeh yeh yeh

Another reason why we need an NFL stadium in the SGV.

  • Pomona District Field

I agree with Aaron & Homer, but what about the Pomona District Field?

I don’t think Monrovia will play at home. Many of the WHITTIER Christian fans were not able to get into last years semi final game due to Monrovia’s stadium being to small. Is it possible to have the Mid Valley Championship game at Pasadena City College?

    Monrovia is playing at home.

    yeh, yeh, yeh,

What makes you think the SGV teams would have first call in a NFL stadium in Industry? You have to remember that stadium would be centrally located to a lot of areas, i.e. the OC and I.E., so I’m sure they’d like to play their games, too. Not sure we’d have first call, but it would be nice to have the option.

Just saying it should be neutral it a Championship game. That Monrovia High Field is too small and too much construction going on!! WCHS has over 1000 fans at least.

Covina Dist. Field seems like the best choice. Both teams have “locker” rooms and they dont have walk half the half time to get there!! Nor does one team have to sit in one of the end zones. Snack bars are large and seating is even on both sides. Not one side has seating for 2000 and the other 500, like at Muir or Charter Oak. And…its a natural grass field. Both schools have that new turf field. Its great, but…natural grass could throw another element into the game.

Cal State Fullerton is a good site. Just a little further down the freeway and easy access for both schools. After the game, you’ll be right back on the freeway and home in no time! This is the FINALS! If you present it, they will come.

End zone bleachers? Bad sight lines? Borrow parking from the local burger joint? How many people attending our high school games sit in the “end zone”? There is a reason why they are the cheapest seats people! Park and ride…are you kidding me? If you are holding yourself out as a class program, make the experience enjoyable for all. I sat next to Monrova fans on Saturday who had to sit on the SD side of the house since not enough room on visitor – a great experience for them? NOT! Home fans have the right to sit on the HOME side with an unobstructed view somewhere between the 30ties without waiting for 45 minutes to get in the door or to even get a freaking drink! The kids just need a field and a ball…play on!
