Former Los Altos coach and 2000 Tribune Player of the Year Felipe Aguilar to join coaching staff at Arroyo …

Felipe Aguilar, who resigned as head coach at his alma mater Los Altos after just two seasons, has accepted a teaching position at Arroyo and will join Jim Singiser’s staff as receivers/running backs coach.

Aguilar, a former standout quarterback at Los Altos, was the Tribune’s Player of the Year in 2000. He served as head coach at Los Altos for two seasons, compiling a 4-16 record before resigning last offseason.

Aguilar was an assistant coach at Rowland this past season.

Aram’s take: Could be the just beginning of a dynamite staff being built by Singiser. Stay tuned …

  • WTF?

    What does he teach?

And they talk about kids transferring from school to school. What’s this, his third school in three years?

Ahhh, that guy cracks me up.

  • LA

HERE IS A SPEECH FROM HIM AFTER EACH LOSS AT LOS ALTOS.

Let’s put it behind us guys. That was last week.. Let’s get ready for next week.

    SAME FREAKIN SPEECH EVERY WEEK!!!!

    LOSER!!!!!!!!

  • your mom

He was a crappy coach. Why would you say this be the beginning of a “Dymite Staff”

Either you are an idiot or you have very low standards.

    Two things:

    1. He was the Trib Player of the Year in 2000. Not saying that means he’ll be a good coach, but the guy has to know the game.

    2. He was Gano’s hand-picked successor at LA. So don’t take my word for it, take Gano’s.

It’s still way too early to sell Felipe short.

  • LA

    The guy had no personality!

HE COULDN’T GET A JOB MAKING GOBSTOPPERS AS A OOMPA LOOMPA!!!!

    TOO MUCH BORING!!!

SHAUN CODY SHOULD OF GOT POY THAT YEAR!

HOW THE HELL YOU GET FIRED ON YOUR DAY OFF????

  • The Mid

This is a weak story Aram. How about finding out who is leaving certain schools and what jobs will be opening? That would be descent story.

  • FBFan

I think that Felipe has gotten the short end of the stick. For one, he is still a young coach with a ton of potential, but people want to ride him out already. I don’t think he should have ever been given the Los Altos job, but he did pretty solid for what he had and who he was playing against. Remember in his last season, he was one defensive stand away from beating Bonita and going to the playoffs. I also personally think that Gano put him in a bad spot. The program was on its way down and although I know that Gano did not mean anything malicious through his selecting of Gano, it was just a bad time to be his successor. Best of luck Felipe.

  • Silly

I believe the addition of Felipe Aguilar to the Arroyo staff is a great get for Arroyo. I will stir the pot and venture to say the next rumored move for them is to add a Beachboy to their staff that wants out of a bad situation at his current location. I mean Aram did mention that this was “just beginning of a dynamite staff being built by Singiser.”

  • LA

    Koffler is next.

  • Dogcat

Ted Clarke from El Monte is rumored to move over to Arroyo. Alot of talk but no action. Same with Koffler.

  • good morning

  • SGV For 30 Years

People give Felipe a break. He took over a program that was falling (and continues) apart. The kid never had a chance. From what I can tell it’s worse now. I saw what’s coming up for LA. All I can say is Loss Altos continues to pay for sins of the past. If I were Arroyo I would be trying like hell to get LA on my schedule next season.

    SGV430 Ouuttt!!

    ‘Felipe The Scape Goat’

Felipe was forced out of LA by a stunningly stupid Admin.

In 2009 Felipe’s Conqs destroy Northview and miss playoffs only after close loss to Bonita.

LA Admin proceeds to fire Felipe then sadly learns that nobody – I mean NOBODY – is interested in taking over that mess.

LA Admin hires Northview HC, goes 0-10 with worst team in LA history.

The idiots that ran out Felipe got exactly what they deserve…a team in shambles.

LA is now bottom dwellers in SGV along with Bassett.

Great move LA ADMIN & Felipe Haters!

What do you guys do for an encore….burn down the stadium?

  • Really!!!

You guys are all haters, its sad to see what his alma mater did to him. Felipe will be fine with out LA. He is a great coach and an inspiration to others. Look at what he has accomplished at such a young age. He only had 2 seasons with LA that is hardly enough time get his feet wet and learn all the ropes with his team.
