Looking ahead to Signing Day 2012 … What’s next year’s crop look like?

Muir’s Kevon Seymour will certainly have his share of suitors.

This year was a banner year for the Valley and Whittier in terms of D-1 signees. Who will be part of the group that carries the torch next season?

I can use your help here, so feel free to post. Here’s what I’ve got so far …

Monrovia’s Ellis McCarthy will be the prized recruit of the group. We know what already. West Covina coaches are confident that Tribune Player of the Year Chris Solomon is a D-1 talent. I’ve seen nothing to make me disagree, but is Solomon a D-1 talent at running back? That’s hard to say. I say he’s more a defensive back. If you saw him play there this season, then you know what I mean. The kid had a great year on defense, but it’s lost in the mix. College recruiters will probably be all over Muir’s Kevon Seymour as a defensive back. Uh … now I’m losing steam.

  • Aaron

    Garrett Horine.

  • valley watcher

Saw Bonita a lot this year and Aaron ain’t lying. Felt he was their best athlete and most physical player. No joke and no lie. He is big enough and a good enough athlete to play somewhere. I am not a bearcat lover by any means, but he was and is their best player.

  • DB

only player worth checking out in db is Omana

  • TC observer

    #7 from Pomona of course.

  • LancerFoLife

Bishop Amat will have some. Last years team was filled with young talent and some of those guys are Seniors this year. J. Moore and Z. Shay, A. Sanchez and of course “the Big River”. Let’s see what the season brings and what they bring to the season. Go Big Blue.

I have a feeling that Rio could make a Chad Jeffries-like splash this summer. But that depends on if he’s not doing baseball stuff.

And I also wonder whether it’s worth it for him to put in all that time and effort when he’s going to be a major leaguer in the future.

Billy Livingston from Covina and Dillon Corona from San Dimas, kicker.

  • VVL

Here is the VVL predictions for 2011. MARK MY WORDS!!! Look forward to reading some comments.

1 Covina- Virtually the whole team back. Will walk through the league, and possibly a CIF title!

2 BP- Lost a few great players but have some up and comers. As always will play great D, and do enough on offense to win most games.

    3. Pomona- Rice came on late last year. Another year in his system along with transfers coming in make them a top contender.

    4. SD- Aside from a QB, and some undersized RBs, the Saints have lost everything off of their 2009 Championship team. Don’t expect much here. Hope your run at success was fun while it lasted!

    5. Nogales- Have some athletes, coach just needs to put them in the right places. Still a few years away.

    6. Wilson- WHAT A JOKE THIS PROGRAM HAS BECOME!!!!! ENOUGH SAID!

  • TC observer

Travis Tailanko IS talented BUT does he pass the height test for D1?

  • GHS

    Donovan Holmes RB
    Corey Victoria RB
    Skylar Crawl LB
    Jacob Rodriguez FS
    DJ Pray LB
    GHS

  • The future

I think Covina will win league, However as far as CIF…I think the Monrovia Wildcats will still be the favorites. They don’t have a lot D1 players in the 2012 class, but they do have several in 2013 and 2014 class.

Monrovia vs Covina Midvalley division title game.

  • !stang!

Kevon was cheated out of first team southeast selection!!!!
its no way in hell you cant tell me he isn’t first team . Ask la Mirada !!!!

  • VVL – Is Nview going to forfeit

VVL Northview isnt even on your list are they just going to forfiet all games or just not show up to plase people like Colt74??

  • keep talking

    VVL,
Keep talking! Covina will not win league. San Dimas is very hungry this year! They will not let covina off the hook this year. Come by any day and see how hard they are working. There is more recruitable players next year than the last two combined. Please come by and see for yourself. They are way bigger and faster than last year. The winter coditioning is 1:30pm – 3:30pm! Btw, Northview is better than nogales! I know I shouldn’t post, but we shouldn’t be handing the little colt’s the title just yet. Please get a clue.

  • ATown

Taylor Lagace has two offers already and should have more soon.

  • This blog and the Super Bowl

This blog is so entertaining I think everyone should put the Super Bowl on mute so we can read all of this, see the game, and yet have no distractions, a perfect scenario

  • Pony Express

    VVL?
    FYI!
San Dimas still has all the Dirty Dozen coming back from the 2009 Champion Team. San Dimas will be ready for the 2011 season.I would put them winning league and playing in the Championship game.

Aram, everybody is always talking about football and getting hurt, Ruiz shouldn’t play, he should stick to baseball, etc, etc. The chances of injury are present in baseball just like football. A kid taking a hard slide can break a bone, tear a ligamnet catch a nasty cut from a spike. A 80+ MPH fast ball can also inflict some damage to a wrist, hand, elbow or head. Enough with the fear mongering. Rio Ruiz is a Stud and Studs PLAY…regardless! It’s playing with fear that’s dangerous. Good Luck to ALL two and three sport athletes out there!

AT, can you find out if it is true that kevon seymour has 4 offers from Pac-12 schools?
