Tribune Player of the Year Chris Solomon makes ESPN Top 150 list for Class of ’12 …

Congrats go out to West Covina’s Chris Solomon, who made the ESPN 150 list of top recruits for 2012. Solomon is listed as a safety prospect on the list. He also plays running back, which is pretty much what won him Tribune Player of the Year honors as a junior last season.

Aram’s take: My take is what’s your take? Do you think Solomon is a D-1 running back? ESPN has him as a safety, which is basically saying he made the list because he’s an athlete. If you watched closely last season, Solomon truly was outstanding on defense.

He was a pretty ridiculous runningback this last season…probably should churn out more yards this next season as well.

    Nice season Chris,
Stay hungry and don’t forget, the grades gotta come first.

  • Overrated

He will not do as good next year. He was good this year because of the talent around him!

  • Are you sure

If you did watch closely, you would have seen he didn’t play that well!

Ellis McCarthy(Monrovia) and Andrew Eifers(Maranatha) are also on the Team

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments this year. Always remember you are a student athlete. Glad to see you are one of many successful West Covina Bruins!!

  • ???

this is really really old news, its been there since last summer!!! its just the watch list!! the final list will be out after the signing deadline of April 2nd!!! That’ll be the time to blog it!!

  • There’s no such thing as old news if it’s good news. But, point taken.

  • westco

to overrated he has the same players this coming year he only lost bj and the qb everybody else is coming back. west covina is going to be loaded also there jv team went undefeted.

Too “Overated” and “Are you sure”,
Lets see… over 1900 yards rushing and averaging over 9 yards each time he touched the ball, thats almost a first down every time he carried. On defense he had around 70 tackles with 20 tackles behing the line of scrimmage, 4 fumbles recovered with 2 returned for TD’s, plus throw in a few picks for the season. OK now could the both of you kindly write down the stats you piled up when you played so we could get an idea of what its like to “play well” or to get a clear idea of what “overrated” means?

Way not to give no credit to the o line. ONly he averaged 9 yards per carry. TRy 4 out of the 5 were seniors, who were strongest on the team. He is overrated watch film and tell me why he got so many yards. You will see next year!

  • Huskies

Sorry boys… definitely a good accomplishment, but that o-line plays a huge part. Kid is a good RB no doubt, but he doesn’t have the speed or quickness to be a D1 running back, the size definitely. A little weight added would help, but he’s much too slow for a D1 prospect at RB. That line was just way too big for the other opponents.

BJ Lee had a monster year as well, but everyone knows his running back skills are not that good. O-line train!

Kid should run track next to BJ, so he can pick up BJ’s speed and have a shot at going to OREGON! It’s a long shot, but definitely worth trying for. He should probably transfer to another school to get that shot at attending OREGON.

Thurmond is a whole different story, Chris does not even compare.

    O-Line coach,
I’ve given credit to the O-line all year, goes without saying that his line had a huge part in his success, but to say he didn’t play well or that he is overrated, well all I can tell you is get yourself some new glasses cause you didn’t get a clear view.
D1 at runningback? I lean towards what Huskie said, he may need to get a little faster, but he does have good vision and gets to daylight and upfield in a hurry, God willing,[barring injury] he’ll continue to be one of the top backs in the area next year, you’ll see. Now as a safety I think he could go D1.

  • Useful info. Lucky me I found your web site unintentionally, and I’m surprised why this coincidence did not took place in advance! I bookmarked it.

  • You rock. Thank you for taking the time. I’ll definitely come here to see what’s new and recommend my friends about this site
