With Chad Jeffries gone, Glendora’s offensive hopes ride on Corey Victoria in ’11 …

Here’s at least one thing for the new coach to look forward to.

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZ

Got a little bored at the 4 minute mark. Great Vid for Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, and Dad. But too long for a recruit vid.

  • Aaron

Wait…you know they have not hired a coach yet right?

  • Dan

Good Luck to Cory, I think Glendora also has Donovan Holmes coming back. Glendora would have been a very good team last season and had a decent chance to take the Baseline League if Chad Jefferies didn’t get hurt.
Unfortunately the Baseline didn’t get to see the real Glendora last season, If I’m not mistaken, Jefferies got hurt in the first half of Glendora’s first league game vs Etiwanda.
West Covina was the only team to beat Glendora with Jefferies last season, I believe the Tartans were within two touchdowns against most of the Baseline teams.
Aram, like Aaron, I would also like to see the rest of your seasonal grades for the Tribune top 25 teams for last season.

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

Yeah Aaron, given that I’m going to be the guy to report it when they do, I’m aware they haven’t hired a coach yet.

  • Aaron

All I’m saying it’s a tad premature…at least in my position as an owner of a subscription to the Tribune to talk about a player that although could have a great season does not yet have a captain to sail his ship and lead him on his great voyage. Without a coach you have no idea what direction he will be going, and you know especially that a new guy can screw things up.

End of season grades…have not seen them for some time.

  • Very Nice

Corey is a kid that I have had the pleasure to watch throughout his football career. He was a blast to watch at the youth level and has also had a solid HS career. I am excited to see what senior year brings him and the rest of the tartans as he preps to play on Saturdays.

  • Go Corey

Erin, This thread is about Corey so if you want to be a cry baby do it on some other thread.

GOOD LUCK COREY. YOU ARE ONE HECK OF A FOOTBALL PLAYER !!!!

  • Blue Blood

OK let me pile on Aram too….End of season grades would be nice AND what’s the deal with the stale topics and lack of new threads??? When you post a thread and no one comments or it goes dormant for six weeks, MAYBE it’s time for another thread? Put in some time and give the people what they want. Fred is kicking your Butt and he’s on vacation!!!!

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

    About the grades,

Well, best laid plans sometimes don’t work out. When the whole company was sent into mandatory 2-week furloughs it meant that I had to stop concentrating on football so much and start concentrating on the prep sports that were in season. I’m sorry about it, too, I really wanted to do that. Anyway, I think it’s time to start looking forward to the next season than reflecting on the last.

    Aaron,

Are you saying that Victoria won’t be a stud for whomever ends up the next Glendora coach? I think the kid will be one of the top players in the area regardless. So there’s no harm in putting up his vid. Hey, maybe it will entice somebody into actually wanting the job (inside joke, literally).

  • The Future

    Hey Aram,

What are your thoughts on the state of Glendora football? Don’t think I’ve seen any comment on what the future of the program will hold without Pasquarella. Coach P brought GHS football into relevancy and I don’t think anyone would intelligently argue that he was not a top five HC in the area. Will we see the same GHS football we’ve become accustomed to over the years? Still challenging for league titles and topping the local squads?

  • Dan

    Too The Future,
“Still challenging for league titles and topping the local squads?”

    Could you define “Local Squads”?

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

    The Future,

Can I get back to you after I see who the next coach is? Pasqy did a great job, as did his staff. Glendora has never been truly equipped to handle its division. But they did well in league and were always good for beating some of the top SGV programs, i.e. Monrovia and Charter Oak last year, Covina during the McD years and Rowland when the Raiders had some good teams.

    Dan,

Now’s the time you remind us all that WestCo beat the Tartans last season.

  • Aaron

I said nothing about whether he will be an effective RB, a Star, or even a dud. By the tape it’s pretty square and obvious that he won’t be a dud.

Gilmore was wasted his senior year, I remember all the rave on the blog being about where he was going to transfer. He stayed loyal and finished it out which sadly got him nowhere…have to say He and Bernal were a pair of beasts that if your team got lucky to beat them you wouldn’t want to be one the field for another 10 minutes because if it had gone longer they could have won the game.

However, the system makes a player all the time. He could end up having 1000 yards next year or could barely see the ball.

  • Mike the Clone

    Greetings…..

The whole “Bagpiper U” situation is such a mess right now. Spring ball is coming soon and you don’t know who your head coach is? Really? Somethings got to give! Everybodies hands are tied over here and I actually feel “Lopies” pain.

And will you “buttonwearers” quit talking about “League Titles” because your weak! And you make me want to puke! We want CIF Titles!

    Ah I feel better now!

    Late!

    Mike the Clone

  • Dan

Easy there Aram, I couldn’t help myself, but
when Future comes on and makes a claim like that I couldn’t let it go unchallenged, almost felt he was trying to bait some of us, but thats half the fun on these boards. By the way try the last three years, but each and every one of those were close so respect to Glendora.

  • Future

    Hey Dan,

Try beating the CO’s, the Damien’s, the Rowland’s, the Covina teams with Mike McD… Now, yes ofcourse… West Covina did beat GHS three years running with each game tightly contested… Any three of those games could’ve gone the other way… I watched a Holding penalty stop Chad Jeffries and Andre Holmes short two years ago from a win. This year’s game? Chad Jeffries just about pulled it out, save for a fluke interception on a perfectly thrown deep ball… So save the pretentious diction for someone else. Show a little more restraint and class, buddy.

  • Future

As for you, Mike the Clown…

How many CIF Football Titles does GHS have? All of one… In what, 1989? Co-champions.. When BRAWN was enough to win…

Nowadays is nowhere near comparable.. It is all about Talent.. One guy can make all the difference sometimes.. Look at the demographics and enrollment of GHS.. It’s pretty remarkable some of the things Pasquy has done with the school despite diminishing enrollment.. Glendora does not have the same talent pool to pull from as those teams in the Inland Division.. The playing field is just not level.. The Tartans truly needed CIF Re-allignment.. Unfortunately, CIF got it backwards and set the program back even further… Put the Tartans in the Southeast Division and PAsquy probably would have pulled out one or two CIF Titles by now.. So please Clown, take all of your Pasquy hate and finally let it go.. You always backtalk “Bagpiper U” as buttonwearers.. Well, honestly its all about being realistic.. I’m proud of the accomplishments of my fellow GHS alums..

John Wooden said it best when he said:
“Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.”

I know when we took Hart to the brink in the Playoffs, that we maximized our talents and effort.. When we gave every ounce on that Citrus field and beat Upland at the last moment in the CIF Playoffs, I know that we got the most out of Reggie Young, Michael Edwards, Drew Kaluzny, etc.. Yes, we got pounded by Corona Centennial (CIF Champs) the next week, but it was obvious with the talent disparity that that was the pre-determined result..

    Greetings…..

    Mike the CLOWN……How Original!

Hey Future go cry me a river you excuse maker!!!

    MTC

  • Future

    Very intelligent, Clown.

Do you just have an opinion for opinion’s sake? Or do you actually put any thought into anything you say? Its all a show with you…….like a Clown maybe?

  • Dan

    Future,
Slow down there champ, I think it was you that came on here first with your subtle claim of superiority for your favorite team? [You know, how you've become accustomed seeing GHS top the local schools.] I caught on to that and simply gave a rebutal, no big deal, now could you please splainnn to me how my rebutal is any more pretentious, or less classy, than your claims of superiority over the other local teams.
As for the missed opportunities for Glendora, well West Covina had just as many in all three games so the woulda coulda shoulda’s are a wash when it comes to games between the two schools. I will say they have been great games each and every year, I gave respect to Glendora. You mentioned Charter Oak, well neither WC or GHS has any bragging rights over that program, your team beat them twice in this decade we beat them once, had we played them this year we’d most likely have two wins like your team, doesn’t matter cause they’ve beaten both of our schools plenty more times.

  • Future

Reading too much into that comment Dan. First off, I was referring to ‘topping local squads’ as a very generalized statement.. No harm meant.. As in, Glendora has consistently beaten local powers each year under Mark Pasquarella and mainly that is a reference to beating the Damien’s, the CO’s, the Covina’s(good years), etc… A very simple statement.. It wasn’t a slight to any other teams unless of course one interprets it to mean “Glendora is the best team in the Valley and West Covina, Bishop Amat, etc. don’t hold a candle to them…” That would be not only ignorant, but un-classy… Of course when we come to hasty generalizations and begin filling in the blanks for ourselves like you so kindly did then it makes that statement bigger than it was ever intended to be.. And I don’t think you really misunderstood that statement, I just think you wanted to again toot your own horn as West Covina had a wonderful year which I had the pleasure of catching a few games to see.. No need to come off as conceited or bigger than life though Dan which is what I think you were doing.. Out of character for someone like yourself, but “it is what it is…”

    Thanks Dan, appreciate the banter.

  • Unbuttonwearer

    Mikey,

G-high has a new excuse maker I see. Nothing like league titles and lack of a talent pool (Future words not mine) to strokes ones ego and feel good about ones self. Good grief where did they get this guy?

  • Dan

    Future,
Your right, no misunderstanding from me,your post was subtle and clear and I called you on it. I was exercising my civil duty of keeping this board in check… After all West Covina’s championship run gives us Bulldog fans that special privilege during this offseason.[I'm joking]. Its all good fellow blogger, just having a little fun on here, no offense and nothing personal was meant your way. A little banter can spice things up some as long as it don’t get too personal. Good luck with your new coach selection and see you in week three.

  • wesco

Dan we will not see Glendoria this year in week three. West Covina will be playing Loyola High School I think or maybe were droping Venice High School

  • Dan

    wesco,
I heard we are dropping Venice and adding Loyola, other than that I think everything else in preseason stays the same, unless they changed the order I believe the line up is as follows.
    Week 0 Covina
    Week 1 Loyola
    Week 2 South Hills
    Week 3 Glendora
    Week 4 first League game.

Fantastic items from you, man. I’ve have in mind your stuff prior to and you’re just too magnificent. I actually like what you’ve received here, certainly like what you’re saying and the way in which by which you say it.
